Above are outline syllabi for basic and advanced boat courses. In addition there are more in depth options which can begiven as basic and advanced courses as bespoke courses in consultation withcustomer. This training is designed to assist Police Forces who have the samesort of Roles as the BGS

Safety & Operational Equipment

· boat hull design and propulsion
· Boat equipment, i.e Radar, GPS, Comms, Bilge System etc
· Life Jackets and Dip Test Drills
· Life Rafts· Strobe Lights
· Capsize drills Navigation Training (Basic)
· Buoyage
· Lights
· IRPCS
· Basic Chart Work – Distance/Time/Speed, Bearings, DR & EP, Transits, Tide/Heights and Streams, Course to steer vectors, Pilotage
· Use of GPS – waypoints
· Use of Radar – range rings, EBL & VRM
· Weather Navigation Training (Advanced)
· Plan and undertake coastal passages by both day and night at speed
· Vector training by day and night Specialist Boarding Training
· Pacing of targets by day and night
· Boarding methods and procedures by both day and night
· Boarding operations at speed by both day and night
· Search patterns
· Man overboard/lost procedures Shallow Water Operations
· Preparation – Area of Ops, Navigation, Type of vessel
· Boat Handling in confined and shallow water
· Surf training ?
· Beach reconnaissance ?
· Veering down Launch Commander Training
· Preparation of boat and launch party prior to launch
· Pre Launch checks
· Launch procedures alongside and at sea by both day and night

For even further in depth training the following packages/options are available :

1. CQB Training The aim of this training is to introduce students to Close Quarter Battle principlesand techniques also referred to as Dynamic Intervention
2. Arrest, Control and Prisoner Handling Techniques The aim of this training is to introduce students to arrest, control and prisonerhandling procedures and techniques.
3. Use of Force and Conflict Management Model The aim of this training is to give students an awareness of the importance ofoperational planning and the Conflict management model,And to introduce them to the planning phase of operations, and the influencingfactors that effect those plans.
4. Introduction to Weapon Retention The aim of this training is to teach officers a system of defence against andattack from the front, side or rear, where the intention of the attacker to seize theofficers weapon.
5. Scene Preservation and Forensic Evidence The aim of this lesson is to show officers the importance of preserving the scene of incidents in order to gain forensic evidence to assist in securing a conviction of offenders.
